An aquifer is also called groundwater, or water in the ground. Aquifers are layers of stone that are porous or with holes that filter water in the ground and collect into 1 of fours types of aquifers- 1) Unconfined Aquifer, (2) Perched Aquifer, (3) Confined Aquifer, and (4) Leaky Aquifer or Semi-Confined Aquifer. Aquifers, or ground water and water in streams, rivers, lakes combine to serve as the world’s freshwater resources. Protection of aquifers is recognized as important to human and non human biodiversity of life. This journey is under construction to complement other NEXT.cc Water Journeys.
